Besides the intention to celebrate the silver jubilee year of the inception of Matsyafed, it primarily intends to celebrate the struggle and success of fisher folk community. The celebrations started from 10th December 2008, subtly marks the enthusiasm of the community that has attributed self sufficiency and hope of life. A series of programs including arts and sports competitions of fishermen, medical camps, seminars, exhibitions etc. are conducting as part of the celebrations. The state level valediction decided to held on 13th May 2009 will be another memorable occasion not only for Matsyafed but for the entire fisheries sector in Kerala
